Additional clarification to county health guidance

Dear Vice Presidents, Deans, Directors and Department Heads,
In support of the university’s academic mission, the Pandemic Preparedness Team today sought additional clarification regarding building and room occupancy from Larimer County, given that educational instruction is currently permitted as a face-to-face function under Larimer County public health guidelines.
All academic spaces, including educational labs and computer labs, are permitted to remain open according to previous occupancy as approved by the Pandemic Preparedness Team for Fall semester. Occupancy will continue to be determined by 6 feet of physical distancing (unless special guidance is in place, such as for performing arts). The 10 percent/10 people rule does not apply to these spaces.
The 10 percent/10 person rule (no more than 10 percent of room occupancy or 10 people, whichever is fewer) DOES apply to administrative, operations or office function spaces, unless otherwise approved by the Pandemic Preparedness Team. Spaces that must adhere to the 10/10 rule are university, college, department and unit offices and operations spaces.
The Pandemic Preparedness Team has worked closely with unique spaces, such as the Lory Student Center, Student Rec Center and Health Network, to determine how county guidance impacts their occupancy and operations.
In addition, we want to reiterate information shared in our previous communication about the new county guidance: all research functions that have previously been approved by the Pandemic Preparedness Team may also continue without changes to approved building or room occupancy as approved this summer or fall by the Pandemic Preparedness Team.
We are aware that evolving case counts and the public health response are generating questions about our preparations for Spring semester. We are working with Larimer County Public Health to better determine how our physical spaces will be managed this winter and during the Spring semester. More information will be shared when it is available.
It is important to note to all of you that at this time, CSU public health has not identified any cases of transmission within an academic or classroom setting.
Thank you for your questions and patience as we work through these new guidelines.
The Pandemic Preparedness Team
