Dear Colorado State University community,

After a successful return to in-person learning, we are looking forward to fall break and shortly followed by the end of the Fall 2021 semester and winter break. These will be well-earned respites and it’s important to see family and friends.

In preparation, here are some important updates and reminders:

  • CSU will resume in-person academics and operations after both fall break and winter break. We’ve been receiving questions asking us to confirm this.
  • COVID cases are high in Larimer County: please, take a moment to implement these tips from the Centers for Disease Control on how to safely gather in small and large groups. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/daily-life-coping/
  • Hospitals near capacity and health care workers are overburdened. Help reduce the strain on our local health care systems. Wear a mask. Report symptoms, exposures or positive tests through the COVID Reporter https://covid.colostate.edu/reporter/. Screen or test if you are not vaccinated, no matter where you spend your breaks.
  • Any student or employee who is currently required to participate in salvia screenings and planning to be on a campus the week of Nov. 22, should continue to screen. Be sure to check out reduced saliva screening pod hours over breaks – https://covid.colostate.edu/register-schedule-screening/.
  • If you are not on a campus the week of fall break, you are not required to screen the week of fall break but are required to resume screening the week of Nov. 29.
  • Over winter break, employees who are on a campus between the weeks of Dec. 27 and Jan. 17 are required to screen. If you have essential duties and are on a campus Dec. 20, 21 or 22, you should screen once during that week. You are not required to screen on weeks you are on leave. Please keep an eye on the screening page for possible changes in screening hours over winter break – https://covid.colostate.edu/register-schedule-screening.

When CSU resumes operations and classes in Spring 2022, we anticipate that screening will continue to be in place for anyone who is not vaccinated. We will continue to update you this winter about plans for next semester.

We know new state and federal mandates regarding testing have raised questions. Our leadership continues to work with internal and external experts to both interpret and implement state and federal mandates regarding testing for contractors and vendors. If you are impacted by those requirements, you’ll hear updates through your individual units or Human Resources.

We wish you a healthy and safe fall and winter break. Stay well and take care of each other: mask, vaccinate, screen, and report symptoms, exposures, and positive tests to the COVID Reporter, even if you are away from CSU.

Be well, CSU.

Thank you,

The Pandemic Preparedness Team
